Meet Your School Counselors

"Today's school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today's students become the productive, well-adjusted adults of tomorrow."-ASCA

We as counselors are here to help students in the school setting. We accomplish this by teaching guidance lessons in the classrooms monthly, hold small groups and individual counseling. School counseling is brief-solution focused.

Mrs. Larsen

I am Kim Larsen. I am the counselor at Mt Green Elementary. I have been married for 30+ years to my high school sweetheart. I graduated from Weber State in 1992 in Social Work and Family Studies. I worked as a social worker for 2 years and then decided to start my family, I was lucky to be a stay at home mom. I raised my 3 kids:  Stockton – 29 He is married to Megan.  Grace – 25 She is married to Austin.  Sara 23 and she is a nurse. I have lived in Syracuse my whole married life. I love to travel, garden, read, watch movies and spend time outside in the sun.
I always loved to volunteer in my kid's schools. I loved the atmosphere in all of their schools. When my kids grew up, moved away and got married, I knew I wanted to begin my career in education. I went back and earned my Master’s degree in my late 40’s.  I attended Utah State University and received a MEd in Psychology. Before coming to MGES, I worked as a counseling at Legacy Jr, Farmington Jr and Syracuse High in the Davis district. I am very excited to be working with the elementary aged kids (they are my favorite)! I am excited to get to know you and your students.

Mrs. Murdock

I was born and raised here in the beautiful Morgan Valley. I attended school here at Morgan Elementary and am thrilled to be back working here as the school counselor. I graduated from Morgan High as the valedictorian of my class and went on to study at Westminster College where I was a member of the women's basketball team for 4 years. I got my bachelors in Psychology and had a wonderful experience there while traveling all across the nation competing in basketball. After I graduated from Westminster I got married to my husband, Taylor and we started our family. I earned my masters degree in school counseling from Utah State University and have been working part-time since then. For the last 6 years I have had the opportunity to work with and learn from several amazing counselors, administrators, teachers and most importantly students. I spent the first 4 years in the Davis School District, a year at Syracuse High School and three years working at Centennial Jr. High. Last year I was able to make the move to the Morgan School District and work at Morgan Middle School as one of their school counselors. I had a wonderful year and am now excited to be here at the elementary school. I have four beautiful children, McCray, Madison, Kai and Kate. I love spending the majority of my time with my family. We love being in the outdoors whether that time is spent hiking, hunting, fishing, camping, ranger-riding, boating, swimming, playing sports, at the park or BBQs with the family. I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to live in our beautiful valley and work within our community and help serve our amazing students here at Morgan Elementary School.

Mrs. Johnson

My name is Mrs. Johnson and I am a part-time counselor at Mountain Green Elementary. The rest of the week I'm is a stay-at-home mom to two little girls (and soon-to-be baby #3). Layla is 4 years old and Malan is 2 years old. They keep me on my toes and I'm learning a lot about kids! I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree from Utah State University in Sociology. I also received my Master's Degree from University of Phoenix in School Counseling. I have been a school counselor for six years and I love working with kids. My favorite thing to do as a school counseling is go into the classrooms and teach guidance lessons! It is fun to see kids understand concepts like, "coping skills" and "self-control".
